Internal Medicine Intern

Internal Medicine

Originally from southern Appalachia, I obtained my undergraduate degree at Appalachian State University before moving west in pursuit of becoming a veterinarian. I earned both my master’s of biomedical sciences and doctorate of veterinary medicine at Colorado State University. During veterinary school, I worked in a chemotherapy research lab with the goal of becoming a medical oncologist – it was not until my fourth and final year of veterinary
school that I fell in love with internal medicine. The challenge of complex cases, ability to form long-term client/patient/doctor relationships, and the culture of lifelong learning are what drew me to this specialty. I am thrilled to be taking the next step towards becoming a board-certified small animal internist at Friendship Hospital for Animals.

Outside of the hospital, I enjoy rock climbing, cycling, potlucks, road tripping, horseback riding, and volunteering. I have more pets than is probably reasonable and love to take them on adventures. We are looking forward to exploring DC!
